The Hamilton Tiger-Cats won their first game in Calgary since 2004 on Friday. At McMahon Stadium, the Tiger-Cats beat the Stampeders 35-32. Hamilton had not won in Calgary since they beat the Stampeders 41-34 on July 4, 2004, a total of 18 years ago.

In Friday’s win, the Tiger-Cats were led offensively by quarterback Dane Evans and wide receiver Tim White. Evans completed 17 of 25 passes for 244 yards and one touchdown, and had two rushing yards with another major score on the ground. White had seven catches for 106 yards and a touchdown.

This was Hamilton’s first win on the road this season. They have been respectable at home with a record of five wins and three losses, but have struggled mightily away from Tim Hortons Field as they have a record of one win and seven losses for a record of six wins and 10 losses overall.

But most importantly, Hamilton has moved into a playoff spot with a win over the Stampeders. They have the identical record as the Saskatchewan Roughriders. If the Tiger-Cats and Roughriders are tied, Hamilton will get the playoff spot as the Roughriders need to have a better record to cross over into the East. In their final two games, the Roughriders play the Stampeders twice. Meanwhile, the Tiger-Cats play the Ottawa Redblacks twice.
