There was a trade in the Canadian Football League on Monday as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats traded offensive lineman Chris Kolankowski of Toronto, Ontario to the Toronto Argonauts according to 3downnation.com. In return, the Tiger-Cats will receive a sixth round pick in the 2027 Canadian Football League Draft.
Kolankowski is actually returning to the Argonauts. He played three CFL seasons in Toronto from 2016 to 2018, after being the Argonauts’s sixth round pick, 49th overall, in the 2016 Canadian Football League Draft out of York University. While with the Argonauts, Kolankowski won the 2017 Grey Cup. At Toronto Dominion Place Stadium in Ottawa, Ontario, the Argonauts defeated the Calgary Stampeders 27-24,
Then from 2020 to 2025, Kolankowski was with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was part of the Blue Bombers team that won their last Grey Cup in 2021. In a dramatic game that went into overtime at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario, the Blue Bombers defeated the Tiger-Cats 33-25.
This was only the fourth time ever that a Grey Cup went into overtime. The first time was in 1961 when the Blue Bombers beat the Tiger-Cats 21-14 at CNE Stadium in Toronto. The second time was in 2005 as the Edmonton Eskimos beat the Montreal Alouettes 38-35 at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia. The third time was in 2016, as the Ottawa RedBlacks beat the Calgary Stampeders 39-33 at the Bank of Montreal Field in Toronto.
This past season, Kolankowski played eight games for the Tiger-Cats. Over eight CFL seasons, Kolankowski has played in 163 regular season games.
