Team Canada has improved to a record of two wins and zero losses at the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton, Alberta. On Tuesday, Canada defeated Slovakia by a score of 6-1.
Seven Canadian players had a multi-point game and co-led Team Canada with two points. Edmonton Oil Kings centre Kayden Stroeder of Lanigan, Saskatchewan scored twice. Meanwhile, four Canadians had a goal and an assist. They were defensemen Landon DuPont of Calgary, Alberta (projected to be selected first overall in the 2027 National Hockey League Entry Draft), North Bay Battalion centre Camryn Warren of Vaughan, Ontario, Regina Pats centre Liam Pue of Langley, British Columbia, and Niagara IceDogs centre Ryerson Edgar of Holland Landing, Ontario. Two more Canadian players had two assists. They were Pats centre Maddox Schultz of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Prince Albert Raiders defenseman Brock Cripps of Victoria, British Columbia.
Canada is one of two teams undefeated. The other is the United States. On Wednesday, Canada will play Sweden. On Tuesday, Sweden was upset 7-6 by Switzerland. This game was dramatic as Sebastian Weber scored the game-winning goal for Switzerland with two seconds left in the third period to break a 6-6 deadlock. Wednesday’s game is important for Sweden as they will be eliminated from the tournament with a loss.
