Three more Canadians have qualified for Showdown Sunday at 2024 Calgary Stampede on Saturday. They are Orin Larsen of Inglis, Manitoba in the bareback, and Ben Andersen of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and Logan Hay of Wildwood, Alberta in the saddle bronc.
Andersen had another great day in Pool C action. For the second straight day, he posted the top score. On Friday, Andersen had a score of 87 points. On Saturday, he was even better as he had 89.5 points. Kade Bruno of Challis, Idaho was in second place with 88.5 points. Andersen finished second in the Pool C standings with $13250.00. He was only behind Bruno, who had $14375.00.
Hay qualified for Showdown Sunday even though he was bucked off on Saturday. He finished with $10,250.00 and reached fourth place in the saddle bronc.
Larsen finished second in the bareback standings in Pool C with $10,500. Jacob Lees of Caldwell, Idaho was the Pool C leader with $12,500.
We also know the three chuckwagon drivers who will be competing in the Rangeland Derby’s Dash for Cash on Sunday. The riders are Jason Glass of High River, Alberta, Chanse Vigen of Calgary, Alberta, and Layne MacGillivray of Halkirk, Alberta. You could make the argument that the Calgary Stampede is the crown jewel of chuckwagon racing.
