Taylor Pendrith leading the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic

Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ontario is leading the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic from the Detroit Golf Club in Detroit, Michigan. The 32-year-old is tied for the lead with Taylor Moore of San Angelo, Texas at -13 after the second round. Meanwhile, Adam Hadwin of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan is also in contention, as he is tied for ninth place and three strokes back at -10.

In the second round on Friday, Pendrith sizzled on the golf course, as he had eight birdies and zero bogeys. He birdied the first, third, fourth, 10th, 12th, 15th, 16th, and 17th holes. In the first round on Thursday, Pendrith had five birdies and zero bogeys. He birdied the second, fifth, 12th, 14th, and 18th holes.

Hadwin meanwhile had seven birdies and one bogey in the first round. He birdied the seventh, eighth, 10th, 14th, 15th, 17th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the fourth hole. In the second round, Hadwin had six birdies and two bogeys. He birdied the first, fifth, seventh, eighth, 10th, and 17th holes, and bogeyed the 11th and 14th holes.

Rickie Fowler of the United States and Ludvig Aberg of Sweden are tied for third place at -12. Americans Adam Schenk, Justin Lower, and Colin Morikawa, along with England’s Aaron Rai are tied for fifth place at -11. Those at -10 and tied for ninth place alongside Hadwin are Americans Peter Kuest, Dylan Wu, and Andrew Landry, along with Australia’s Cam Davis and Austria’s Sepp Straka. Of those golfers in contention is one major champion. Morikawa won the 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 British Open.
