Summer McIntosh of Toronto, Ontario has won her first career Olympic medal. It is a silver medal in the women’s 400 metre freestyle at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The medal is also Canada’s first medal of the 2024 Olympic Games.

Titmus set the world record with a time of 3:55.38 in winning gold at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. It is also interesting that Titmus has won five Olympic medals and Ledecky has won 11 Olympic medals.

McIntosh reached the podium by 2.75 seconds. Erika Fairweather of New Zealand finished in fourth place with a time of 4:01.12. It is interesting that Fairweather had a faster time than McIntosh in the heats. Fairweather had a time in the heats of 4:02.55, while McIntosh had a time of 4:02.65.

Australia won two gold medals in swimming on Saturday. They also finished first in the women’s 4×100 metre relay. McIntosh’s next best chance for a medal is on Tuesday with the women’s 400 metre indivual medley.
