The Calgary Stampeders signed offensive lineman Tyler Packer of Calgary, Alberta according to 3Down Nation on Wednesday. The Stampeders are Packer’s second Canadian Football League team as he spent four consecutive seasons with the British Columbia Lions from 2022 to 2025.

Packer joins a Stampeders franchise trying to qualify for the 2026 Canadian Football League playoffs. Calgary is currently in fourth place in the West Division with a record of eight wins and eight losses. They are two points up on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for a playoff spot. However, the Stampeders are only two points back of the Lions, who are in second place in the West Division at nine wins and six losses.

In Packer’s CFL career, he has one career solo tackle. It came on July 13, 2024 in a 35-20 Lions win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Packer was the Lions’s sixth round pick, 51st overall, in the 2021 CFL Draft. He also had a notable Canadian university football career. That is because Packer won the Vanier Cup with the University of Calgary Dinos in 2019. In the Canadian university football championship game from seven years ago, Packer was the Dinos’s starting right tackle as the Dinos defeated the University of Montreal Carabins by a score of 27-13.
