According to nhl.com on Tuesday, the Ottawa Senators have traded right winger Mathieu Joseph of Laval, Quebec to the St. Louis Blues with a third round pick in the 2025 National Hockey League Entry Draft for future considerations. The Blues are Joseph’s third National Hockey League franchise. In addition to three seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Joseph has spent four seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Joseph had 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points in 72 games with the Senators in 2023-24. He was a -4 with 51 penalty minutes, two shorthanded points, three game-winning goals, 124 shots on goal, 22 faceoff wins, 49 blocked shots, 105 hits, 69 takeaways, and 36 giveaways. Joseph had career highs in assists, points, penalty minutes, shots on goal, blocked shots and takeaways.

Mathieu Joseph is the older brother of Pierre-Olivier Joseph, a defenseman for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pierre-Olivier has been in Pittsburgh for the last four years.

One concern that Blues fans may have with Mathieu Joseph is the fact he did not have a point in his last 12 games with the Senators this season. Joseph had a season-high three points in a 6-3 Senators win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on November 8. In the win, Joseph set up Claude Giroux of Hearst, Ontario, Jakob Chychrun, and Tim Stutzle.
