The Professional Women’s Hockey League will have a unique All-Star event in Toronto, Ontario on March 7 according to Jon Wawrow of CBC Sports on Thursday. This will be the first ever All-Star event in the PWHL.
The All-Star event will have four teams. Players will represent the United States, Canada, and Europe. There will also be an All-Rookie squad. Games will be three-on-three, and the tournament will last a complete day. There is a round robin format, as all four teams will play each other. Then there will be a semifinal (the second place team playing the third place team) with the winner playing the first place team from the round robin in the championship game. In all, there will be eight games taking place, and one team will have five games in one day.
The games will take place at the Scotiabank Arena, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League. There will be 10 players per team (six forwards, three defensemen and one goalie).
There will be more details announced at a later time. My question is how long will each game be? Will there be eight mini-games (possibly one period)? The day will have intrigue and be worth watching.
