Predators trade goaltender Scott Wedgewood to Avalanche

According to Rogers Sportsnet on Saturday, the Nashville Predators have traded goaltender Scott Wedgewood of Brampton, Ontario to the Colorado Avalanche for goaltender Justus Annunen and a sixth round pick in the 2025 National Hockey League Draft. The Avalanche will be Wedgewood’s fifth National Hockey League team. He has previously played three seasons with the New Jersey Devils (2015-16, 2020-21, and 2021-22), two seasons with the Arizona Coyotes (2017-18, 2021-22), three seasons with the Dallas Stars (2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24), and one season with the Nashville Predators (2024-25).

This past season with Nashville, Wedgewood had a record of one win, two regulation losses, and one loss in extra time. He had a goals against average of 3.69 and a save percentage of .878. Wedgewood’s lone win with the Predators came on October 26 in a 4-3 Nashville win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Wedgewood made 25 saves on 28 shots.

Last season in Dallas, Wedgewood had a record of 16 wins, seven regulation losses, and five losses in extra time. He had a goals against average of 2.85 and a save percentage of .899.

Despite being primarily a backup goaltender in his seven NHL seasons, Wedgewood has six career NHL shutouts. They came in a 3-0 Devils win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 24, 2016, in a 5-0 Coyotes win over the Devils on December 2, 2017, in a 2-0 Devils win over the New York Islanders on January 24, 2021, in a 1-0 Devils win over the Boston Bruins on March 7, 2021, in a 1-0 Stars win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on April 12, 2022, and in a 4-0 Stars win over the Los Angeles Kings on January 19, 2023.
