Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec won the gold medal in a World Cup men’s moguls event in Ruka, Finland on Saturday. For Kingsbury, it was his 91st World Cup moguls title of his career, and 11th in Ruka. Of the 11 gold medals in Ruka, Finland, nine have been in moguls and two have been in dual moguls, which will make its Olympic debut at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.

On Saturday, Kingsbury posted a winning score of 83.9 points. Walter Wallberg of Sweden won the silver medal with a score of 81.14 points. Ikuma Horishima of Japan won the bronze medal with a score of 80.51 points. Kingsbury reached the podium by 5.22 points over Benjamin Cavet of France, who had a fourth place score of 78.68 points.

This was the first World Cup moguls event of the 2004-05 freestyle skiing season. There are 10 events overall with one Canadian stop. The world’s best mogulists will be in Val St. Come, Quebec on January 31.

Kingsbury is simply the best mogulist of all time, and is arguably the finest skier Canada has ever produced. He won the Olympic gold medal at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, and eight gold medals at the World Freestyle Skiing Championships.
