New Brunswick and Team Canada remain unbeaten at the Scotties

After day five of the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts from Thunder Bay, Ontario, New Brunswick and Team Canada remain undefeated at five wins and zero losses. New Brunswick’s Andrea Crawford had the day off on Tuesday after they beat Prince Edward Island 10-8, and Quebec 8-5 on Monday. Team Canada’s Kerri Einarson beat British Columbia 10-5 and Yukon 6-4 on Tuesday. It was the second straight day that Team Canada won by a 10-5 score as on Monday they defeated Alberta by five. New Brunswick is in Pool A, while Team Canada is in Pool B. 

The other big story of the day was the Northwest Territories. Kerry Galusha defeated previously undefeated Manitoba 8-6 in the morning and then Quebec 7-6 in the evening. The Northwest Territories are at 4-1. The other team at 4-1 is the Wildcard team skipped by Selena Njegovan, who has rattled off four straight wins after losing their opening game by a score of 6-5 to New Brunswick.

In other curling news, Curling Canada has cancelled the 2022 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championships in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, the 2022 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Sudbury, Ontario, and the 2022 Canadian University Curling Championships in Sudbury, Ontario, because of coronavirus. Meanwhile, Brendan Bottcher has named Patrick Janssen as his new third, after he released Darren Moulding.
