Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec won the gold medal in a World Cup men’s moguls competition in Megeve, France on Friday. For Kingsbury, who won the gold medal in men’s moguls at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, it was his fifth gold medal in men’s moguls this season.
In Megeve on Friday, Kingsbury posted a winning score of 86.27 points. Ikuma Horishima of Japan won the silver medal with a score of 86.23 points. Walter Wallberg of Sweden won the bronze medal with a score of 85.13 points. Kingsbury reached the podium by 4.76 points over Ludvig Fjallstrom of Sweden, who was in fourth place with a score of 81.51 points.
Kingsbury previously won World Cups this season in Ruka, Finland on December 4, 2021, two World Cups in Mont Tremblant, Quebec on January 7 and January 8, 2021, and in Deer Valley, Utah on January 13. If you include moguls and dual moguls, Kingsbury has now won 74 World Cup gold medals in his remarkable freestyle skiing career.
Kingsbury also is the World Cup champion in men’s moguls this season. He finished the year with 672 points. Horishima was second with 640 points. This is the 10th time in his career that Kingsbury is the World Cup champion. He was number one every year from 2012 to 2020. Matt Graham of Australia was the World Cup moguls champion in 2021.
