Mikael Kingsbury wins World Cup men’s moguls silver in Georgia

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec won a World Cup silver medal in men’s moguls on Friday in Bakuriani, Georgia. For Kingsbury, it was his 132nd World Cup medal, as he now has 92 gold medals, 30 silver medals and 10 bronze medals.

Kingsbury posted a score on Friday of 82.93 points. Benjamin Cavet of France won the gold medal with a score of 84.08 points. Severi Vierela of Finland won the bronze medal with a score of 80.8 points. Kingsbury reached the podium by 2.27 points. Walter Wallberg of Sweden was in fourth place with a score of 80.66 points.

In the World Cup men’s moguls standings, Kingsbury leads with 280 points. It was his third medal this season as he won gold in Ruka, Finland on November 30, and Idre Fjall, Sweden on December 6. Cavet is in second place with 200 points and Wallberg is in third place with 190 points.

There are six more World Cup events on the schedule. They are in Waterville, New Hampshire on January 24, Val St. Come, Quebec on January 31, Deer Valley, Utah on February 6, Beidahu, China on February 21, Almaty, Kazakhstan on February 28. and Livigno, Italy on March 11.

Kingsbury won the gold medal in men’s moguls at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. His silver medal in Bakuriani will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
