Mikael Kingsbury wins World Cup dual moguls silver in Utah

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathes-des-Monts, Quebec won the silver medal in Deer Valley, Utah at a World Cup dual moguls event on Saturday. For Kingsbury, it was his 137th World Cup moguls medal. He has now won 96 gold medals, 31 silver bronze medals and 10 bronze medals.

Kingsbury reached the final on Saturday night, but lost 35-0 to Ikuma Horishima of Japan. Pavel Kolmakov of Kazakhstan won gold. Kingsbury, who was the number one seed heading into the event, beat Rasmus Stegfeldt of Sweden 20-15 in the first round, Nick Page of the United States 35-0 in the quarterfinals, and Kolmakov 24-11 in the semifinals.

In the World Cup dual moguls standings, Kingsbury leads with 312 points. Filip Gravenfors of Sweden is in second place with 215 points. This was the fourth of seven men’s dual moguls World Cup events this season. There will also be competitions in Beidahu, China on February 21, Almaty, Kazakhstan on February 28, and Ivigno, Italy on March 11. Meanwhile, the men’s dual moguls event of the 2025 World Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding Championships will take place on March 21 in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Kingsbury won the gold medal in men’s moguls at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. Dual moguls will make its Olympic debut at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
