Maple Leafs set franchise record for wins and points in a season

Sunday was a memorable game for the Toronto Maple Leafs. In their 4-2 win over the New York Islanders at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, the Maple Leafs set the franchise record for most regular season wins in a season with 50 and most regular season points in a season with 106.

The Maple Leafs previous record for most wins in a season was 49, which was set in the 2017-18 season. Their previous record for most points in a season was 105, with was also set in 2017-18. However, the Maple Leafs did not have much playoff success four years ago, as they were beaten by the Boston Bruins in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, four games to three.

In Toronto’s win over the Islanders on Sunday, the Maple Leafs got goals from Mitch Marner of Markham, Ontario, William Nylander, Pierre Engvall, and David Kampf. Nylander had one goal and one assist for two points, while Michael Bunting of Scarborough, Ontario also had a multi-point game as he had two assists.

The Maple Leafs have the third most points in the National Hockey League at the moment. The Colorado Avalanche have the most points with 116. They are followed by the Florida Panthers, who have 114 points.
