The Toronto Maple Leafs are one win away from reaching the second round of the National Hockey League playoffs for the first time since 2004. On Tuesday, Toronto delivered an impressive comeback as they were initially down 2-0 to the Tampa Bay Lightning after the first period, but bounced back with an excellent second and third period, en route to a 4-3 victory.

Two Canadians scored for the Maple Leafs on Tuesday. John Tavares of Mississauga, Ontario scored his first goal of the 2022 postseason from Mark Giordano of Toronto, Ontario and William Nylander at 3:35 of the second period on the power-play to pull the Maple Leafs within one goal at 2-1 Tampa Bay. Then defenseman Morgan Rielly of Vancouver, British Columbia tied the game at two with a goal from Nylander and Tavares at 3:01 of the third period.

Tavares was one of two Maple Leafs to have a multi-point game. The other was Nylander, who had one goal and two assists for three points. The other Maple Leafs goal scorer was Auston Matthews, who had 60 goals in the regular season in winning the Rocket Richard Trophy.

Game six of the series will be on Thursday in Tampa Bay. The Leafs are leading the Lightning three games to two.
