We now know one of the two teams that will be in the final of the 2023 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kamloops, British Columbia. On Saturday night at the Sandman Centre, Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg, Manitoba reached her 10th career final of the Canadian national women’s curling championship with an 8-5 win over Northern Ontario’s Krista McCarville in the 1-2 game.

It was a slow start for Jones, who won the gold medal for Canada at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. She gave up a stolen point in the first three ends, and found herself trailing McCarville, the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts finalist, 3-0. However a key deuce int the fourth end and a stolen point herself in the fifth end, put Jones on even terms with McCarville at three points each. In the second half of the contest, Jones completely dominated as she outscored McCarville 5-2 en route to the three-point win.

In the 3-4 game on Saturday afternoon, the luck ran out for Nova Scotia’s Christina Black, as she was completely outmatched by the three-time champion Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Manitoba, 9-4. Einarson, who is representing Team Canada, will now face Northern Ontario in the semifinal on Sunday afternoon.
