
Maia Schwinghammer of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan continued her fine World Cup moguls season on Thursday with a bronze medal in Deer Valley, Utah. It was the third World Cup medal for Schwinghammer this season, and fourth World Cup medal of her career.
On Thursday, Schwinghammer posted a score of 75.22 points. Jaelin Kauf of the United States won the gold medal with 80.75 points. Perrine Laffont of France won the silver medal with 79.63 points. Schwinghammer reached the podium by 9.5 points over Tess Johnson of the United States, who finished in fourth place with a score of 65.72 points.
Schwinghammer is also in third place in the World Cup women’s moguls standings with 360 points. Laffont is the leader with 490 points and Kauf is in second with 396 points. There are three more women’s World Cup moguls events this season. They are in Beidahu, China on February 21, in Almaty, Kazakhstan on February 28, and in Livigno, Italy on March 11.
Schwinghammer’s first World Cup medal came in dual moguls on Bakuriani, Georgia on December 23, 2023. She has since won a bronze medal in women’s World Cup moguls on December 6, 2024 in Idre Fjall, Sweden, and gold in women’s moguls in Val St. Come, Quebec on January 31, 2025. The bronze medal for Schwinghammer will give her confidence as she prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
