Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas, Ontario is in third place after round three of the Corales Puntcana Resort and Club Championship in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Hughes is at -14  and three back of the lead after 54 holes.

Hughes shot five under par on Saturday. He had birdies on the third, fourth, seventh, 15th, 16th and 17th holes. Hughes also bogeyed the first hole. Adam Long of New Orleans, Louisiana is the leader at -17, while Hudson Swafford of Lakeland, Florida is all along in second place at -15.

Hughes, Swafford and Long have each won once on the PGA Tour in the past. Hughes’ lone win came at the RSM Classic in 2016 when he beat Blayne Barber of Tallahassee, Florida, Billy Horschel of Grant, Florida, Henrik Norlander of Danderyd, Sweden, and Camilo Villegas of Medellin, Colombia in a five-player playoff in St. Simons, Georgia. Swafford won the 2017 CareerBuilder Challenge (formerly the Bob Hope Desert Classic) and Long won the 2019 Desert Classic. Interestingly, the Career Builder Challenge and Desert Classic is the same event, as the tournament which takes place in Palm Springs, California changed its name in 2019. In another fascinating tidbit, Adam Hadwin of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan finished second to Swafford and Long.
