
Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton, Ontario is in contention after the second round of the 2024 RBC Canadian Open in Hughes’s native city of Hamilton. On Friday, Hughes got on to the leaderboard after posting a six-under-par 64.
Hughes is currently at -7 and three strokes back of the leaders. On Thursday, he shot a score of one-under-par 69. Hughes had three birdies and two bogeys. He birdied the fourth, 12th, and 17th holes, and bogeyed the third and 18th holes. On Friday, Hughes had two eagles. He eagled the fourth and 12th holes. Hughes also five birdies and three bogeys. He birdied the first, 10th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes, and bogeyed the seventh and eighth holes.
The leaders are currently Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre and New Zealand’s Ryan Fox at -10. American Joel Dahmen of Clarkston, Washington is two strokes back of MacIntyre and Fox at -8. Meanwhile, the two golfers tied with Hughes are American Andrew Novak of Raleigh, North Carolina, and England’s David Skinns. It was Skinns who was the round one leader at -8.
Hughes is trying to be the second straight Canadian to win the RBC Canadian Open. Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba won a year ago at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto, Ontario.
