Kyle Reyes of Brampton, Ontario won the gold medal for Team Canada on Sunday at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. He placed first in the men’s -100 kilogram division. It was Reyes’s second Commonwealth Games medal as he won the silver medal behind fellow Canadian Shady Elnahas of Toronto, Ontario at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Reyes defeated silver medalist Max Gregory of England in the gold medal final via an ippon. Georgios Kroussaniotakis of Cyprus and Franck Tahman Zan of Cameroon each won the bronze medal. Throughout the men’s -100 kilogram judo competition, Reyes defeated Abdourahman Ceesay of Gambia in the quarterfinals and Kroussaniotakis in the semifinals.
Team Canada won two other bronze medals on Sunday. Maggie Coles-Lyster of Maple Ridge, British Columbia won the bronze medal in the women’s track cycling elimination race and Coralie Godbout of Levis, Quebec won bronze in the women’s 78 kilogram judo event.
In the closing ceremonies, Julien Frascadore of Quebec City, Quebec was Canada’s flag bearer. He won the gold medal in men’s 66 kilogram judo on Friday.
Canada finished the 2026 Commonwealth Games with 62 medals (19 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 23 bronze medals). Australia had the most medals with 171 and England had the second most with 110.
