Kingsbury wins two World Cup moguls gold medals

Mikael Kingsbury of Ste-agathe-des-Monts, Quebec won two World Cup men’s moguls competitions in Thaiwoo, China this past week.His first World Cup win came on Thursday and his second World Cup win came on Friday.

On Thursday, Kingsbury had 83.61 points. Matt Graham of Australia won the silver medal with 82.75 points. Troy Murphy of the United States won the bronze medal with 80.57 points. Kingsbury reached the podium by 4.79 points over Jae Woo Choi of South Korea, who was in fourth place with a score of 78.82 points.

On Friday, Kingsbury had 85.94 points. Dmitriy Reikherd of Kazakhstan won the silver medal with 84.92 points. Graham won the bronze medal with 82.96 points. Kingsbury reached the podium by 3.04 points over Choi, who finished in fourth place with a score of 82.90 points.

Kingsbury continues to lead the World Cup men’s moguls standings with 300 points. Reikherd is in second with 160 points.

Kingsbury was not the only Canadian mogulist to reach the podium twice this past week in Thaiwoo. In women’s moguls, Andi Naude of Regina, Saskatchewan won the bronze medal in a women’s World Cup on Thursday and again on Friday.

On Thursday, Naude had a score of 77.64 points. Jaelin Kauf of the United States won the gold medal with 77.9 points. Yulia Galysheva of Kazakhstan won the silver medal with 77.79 points. Naude reached the podium by 1.14 points over reigning Canadian Olympic gold medalist Justine Dufour-Lapointe of Montreal, Quebec, who finished in fourth place with a score of 76.65 points.

On Friday, Naude posted a score of 80.03 points. Galysheva won the gold medal with 80.88 points. Kauf won the silver medal with 80.08 points. Naude reached the podium by 2.96 points over Britteny Cox of Australia, who finished in fourth place with a score of 77.07 points.

Naude is in third place in the World Cup women’s moguls standings with 170 points. Kauf leads with 225 points and Galysheva is in second with 180 points.
