Josh Naylor records third career two-home run game

Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor of Mississauga, Ontario recorded his third career two-home run game on Tuesday. He accomplished the feat in a 13-7 Guardians win over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.

Naylor also scored three runs, had five runs batted in and a walk. His first home run came in the top of the fifth inning. It was a two-run home run that also scored third baseman Jose Ramirez. Naylor’s blast off of Rockies starting pitcher Ryan Feltner went 396 feet and put the Guardians up 6-4 at the time. Naylor’s second home run came in the top of the eighth inning to close out the scoring. It was a three-run home run that also scored Ramirez and second baseman Andres Gimenez. This home run went 438 feet and came off of Rockies relief pitcher Matt Carasiti.

Naylor’s first two-home run game came on May 9, 2022 in a 12-9 Guardians win over the Chicago White Sox. Naylor’s second two-home run game came on July 18, 2022 in a 10-1 Guardians win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In 2024, Naylor is batting .234 with 15 home runs and 40 runs batted in. During 52 games, 192 at bats and 221 plate appearances, he has scored 30 runs and had 45 hits, eight doubles, three stolen bases, 22 walks, 98 total bases, three sacrifice flies, an on base percentage of .321 and a slugging percentage of .510.

The Guardians are in first place in the American League Central with a record of 37 wins and 18 losses. They lead the Kansas City Royals by three and a half games.
