Sam Reinhart scores second career playoff overtime winner

Florida Panthers centre Sam Reinhart of West Vancouver, British Columbia scored his second career Stanley Cup Playoff overtime winner on Tuesday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-2 Panthers overtime win over the New York Rangers in game four of the Eastern Conference Final at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. With the win, the Panthers and Rangers are tied in the best out of the seven series at two games apiece.

Reinhart scored the game-winning goal on the power-play from defenseman Brandon Montour of Brantford, Ontario and captain Aleksander Barkov at 1:12 of the extra period. Rangers right winger and former Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler had taken a hooking penalty just 13 seconds before Reinhart scored his dramatic goal.

Three Canadians scored for the Panthers on Tuesday. The other two Canadians were Sam Bennett of Holland Landing, Ontario and Carter Verhaeghe of Toronto, Ontario.

Reinhart’s first Stanley Cup Playoff overtime winner came in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Reinhart scored from defenseman Aaron Ekblad of Windsor, Ontario and Anton Lundell of Espoo, Finland at 3:02 of the extra period in a 3-2 Panthers win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in game three of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

In the 2024 playoffs, Reinhart has eight goals and four assists for 12 points in 15 games. He is a +2 with 12 penalty minutes, four power-play goals, 60 shots on goal, 54 faceoff wins, 21 blocked shots, 37 hits, nine takeaways, and six giveaways.
