Jennifer Abel wins women’s springboard silver at 2019 FINA Diving World Series event in London

Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Jennifer Abel of Montreal, Quebec won the silver medal on Sunday in a women’s three metre springboard competition at a Diving World Series event in London, Great Britain. Abel, who won the bronze medal in the women’s three metre synchronized springboard competition with Emilie Heymans of St. Lambert, Quebec at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, also won a bronze medal in the women’s three metre synchronized springboard diving World Series event in London with Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu of Saint-Constant, Quebec on Friday.

In the women’s three metre springboard competition on Sunday, Abel posted a score of 353.05 points. Maddison Keeney of Australia won the gold medal with 368.3 points. Nur Dhabitah Binti of Malaysia won the bronze medal with a score of 344.4 points. Abel reached the podium by 8.8 points over Grace Reid of Great Britain, who was in fourth place with a score of 344.25 points.

In the women’s three metre synchronized springboard competition on Friday, Abel and Citrini-Beaulieu posted a score of 306.45 points for the third place finish. Keeney and Anabelle Smith of Australia won the gold medal with a score of 323.7 points. Yani Chang and Shan Lin of China won the silver medal with a score of 316.77 points. Abel and Citrini-Beaulieu reached the podium by 12.93 points over Reid and Katherine Torrance of Great Britain, who were in fourth place with a score of 293.52 points. The medals for Abel and Citrini-Beaulieu will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
