Laboucane has a commanding lead in the aggregate standings of 2.68 seconds. Chanse Vigen of Calgary, Alberta is in second place with a time of eight minutes, 27.24 seconds.
Laboucane’s Thursday time of 1:10.18 was the fastest of the 2026 Calgary Stampede. Laboucane’s previous best time of the 2026 Calgary Stampede was one minute, 10.74 seconds, which he had on Monday. Laboucane also had a time of one minute, 10.98 seconds on Friday to open the Rangeland Derby. Only two other chuckwagon racers have posted times faster than one minute and 11 seconds at the 2026 Calgary Stampede. They are Vigen, who had a time of 1:10.97 on Monday, and Jason Glass of High River, Alberta,who had a time of 1:10.45 on Tuesday.
Glass has the fastest single evening time in the history of the Calgary Stampede. He had a time of one minute, 9.45 seconds on July 11, 2024.
According to Stephen Hunt of CTV News, it was a tough Thursday evening in chuckwagon racing for Ray Couteau Jr. of Strathmore, Alberta. Couteau Jr. dropped from third place to fifth place in the aggregate standings after six seconds of penalties.
