The New York Islanders have signed defenseman Logan Stanley of Kitchener, Ontario on Sunday according to Rogers Sportsnet. The terms of the deal are for one year, and worth $1.5 million.
The Islanders are are the third National Hockey League franchise Stanley has played for. He previously played six seasons with the Winnipeg Jets from 2020 to 2026, and 17 games this past season with the Buffalo Sabres.
This past season with the Jets and Sabres, Stanley had nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points in 76 games. He was a +3 with 128 penalty minutes, one game-winning goal, one power-play point, 96 shots on goal, 84 blocked shots, 110 hits, 17 takeaways and 66 giveaways.
Ironically, Stanley’s only game-winning goal this past season came in a 5-2 Jets win over the New York Islanders. Stanley put the Jets up 3-1 on an all-Canadian goal at 2:19 of the second period to put the Jets up 3-1 at the time. Tanner Pearson of Kitchener and Morgan Barron of Halifax, Nova Scotia had the assists.
Also in the game against the Islanders, Stanley had a multi-point game as he added an assist. It was one of five multi-point games for Stanley in 2025-26. He also had two assists in a 4-3 Jets overtime win over the Minnesota Wild on October 28, two assists in a 5-4 Jets overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks on February 27, two assists in a 5-0 Sabres shutout win over the San Jose Sharks on March 19, and two assists in a 5-0 Sabres shutout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 9.
