Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario has the share of the lead after the second round of the 2020 Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Henderson is currently tied with Inbee Park of South Korea after 36 holes.

Henderson and Park currently lead Gaby Lopez of Mexico by a stroke. Lopez is at -8. Celine Boutier of France, Sei Young Kim of South Korea and Nasa Hataoka of Japan are tied for fourth place at -7 and two shots off the lead. Danielle Kang of the United States is alone in seventh place at -6 and three shots off the lead.

Of the seven golfers in contention, there are three major winners. Henderson won the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington. Park has won seven majors (the 2013, 2014, and 2015 Women’s PGA Championship, the 2008 and 2013 United States Women’s Open, the 2013 ANA Inspiration and the 2015 Women’s British Open). Kang meanwhile won the 2017 Women’s PGA Championship in Chicago, Illinois.

This is the first LPGA event of the 2020 season. Athletes who are eligible to compete must have won a LPGA event over the last two years. The eligibility is different from the Sentry Tournament of Champions earlier this month which took place in Hawaii on the PGA Tour. In the men’s event, competitors were required to win the previous season only. Justin Thomas of the United States was the champion.
