Canadian Freddie Freeman had arguably the biggest home run of his Major League Baseball career on Friday. He hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning in a 6-3 Los Angeles Dodgers win over the New York Yankees at Dodger Stadium. This was the first time ever there was a walk off grand slam in MLB World Series history.
For Freeman, it was his 11th postseason home run of his career, and first postseason grand slam. The dinger came in a dramatic situation. With two out in the inning, Freeman hit a 409 foot blast over the right field wall, and scored Mookie Betts, Tommy Edman and Chris Taylor.
In game one, Freeman had two extra base hits. In addition to the home run, he legged out a triple in his first at bat in the bottom of the first inning. The triple was significant because Freeman has been battling with a sore ankle in the 2024 MLB playoffs. It was also Freeman’s first career postseason triple in 58 playoff games.
In the 2024 MLB playoffs, Freeman is batting .243 with one home run and five runs batted in. During nine games and 37 at bats, he has scored two runs and nine hits, with one walk, and one stolen base. Freeman also has an on base percentage of .263 and a slugging percentage of .378.
