
Francis Jobin of Quebec City, Quebec won the gold medal on Sunday in a World Cup men’s slopestyle snowboarding event in Aspen, Colorado. For Jobin, it was not only his first ever World Cup snowboarding gold medal, but first ever World Cup medal.
Jobin won on Sunday with a score of 79.3 points. Yiming Su of China won the silver medal with a score of 78.36 points. Sean Fitzsimons of the United States won the bronze medal with a score of 77.43 points. Jobin reached the podium by 8.62 points over Dane Menzies of New Zealand, who had a fourth place score of 70.68 points.
In the World Cup men’s slopestyle snowboarding standings, Jobin is now in fourth place with 118 points. Canadian Cameron Spalding of Havelock, Ontario is the World Cup men’s slopestyle snowboarding leader despite finishing in 16th place in Aspen. He has 215 World Cup points after wins earlier this year in Cardrona, New Zealand and Laax, Switzerland. Su is in second place with 146 points and Menzies is in third place with 126 points.
There are two more men’s slopestyle snowboarding events this season. They are in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on February 22 and in Absolut Park Flachauwinkl, Austria on March 14. The gold medal for Jobin will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
