Four Canadians record touchdowns in Week 13 for winning teams

Four Canadians recorded touchdowns on winning teams in the Canadian Football League this past season. They were British Columbia Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke of Victoria, British Columbia, Lions wide receiver Justin McInnis of Pierrefonds, Quebec, Winnipeg Blue Bombers slotback Nic Demski of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Blue Bombers defensive back Nick Hallett of London, Ontario.

Rourke had a significant game in a 38-12 Lions win over the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday in a special CFL game from Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, British Columbia. Rourke opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run and had three touchdown passes. Rourke completed 21 of 30 passes for 325 passing yards, and had three rushes for 29 yards. Rourke’s touchdown passes were three yards to Alexander Hollins (put the Lions up 17-0 in the second quarter), 33 yards to Ayden Eberhardt (put the Lions up 31-6 with 41 seconds left in the first half), and 10 yards to McInnis (closed the scoring on an all-Canadian touchdown).

For the season, Rourke has completed 51 passes in 86 attempts for 685 passing yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has 11 rushes for 119 rushing yards and another major score. McInnis had three catches for 72 yards against the Redblacks. On the season, McInnis has 63 catches for 1026 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Meanwhile in Regina, Demski and Hallett recorded touchdowns for Winnipeg in a 35-33 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Demski had a 44-yard touchdown catch from Zac Collaros, while Hallett had a fumble recovery in the end zone. Demski finished the game with three catches for 64 yards, and one rush for six yards. On the season, he has 50 catches for 676 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and four rushes for 10 rushing yards. Hallett in 2024 has three defensive tackles, six special teams tackles and one sack. With the wins, the Lions and Blue Bombers both improve to a record of six wins and six losses and are tied for first place in the West Division.
