According to Mike Thom of CHVN Radio, former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Lyle Bauer of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan passed away on Monday at the age of 65. Bauer was an offensive guard and centre for the Blue Bombers from 1982 to 1991.

According to statscrew.com, Bauer played 161 Canadian Football League games and had one catch for 35 yards, one defensive tackle, and two tackles. He won three Grey Cups with the Blue Bombers, and was an East Division All-Star in 1990.

Bauer’s first Grey Cup came in 1984. At Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, the Blue Bombers beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 47-17. The second Grey Cup came in 1988. However, Bauer never played for the Roughriders as he was cut. Soon after his release, Bauer signed with Winnipeg.

After his CFL career, Bauer was the assistant general manager of the Blue Bombers from 1992 to 1994, and then the president and chief executive officer of the Blue Bombers from 2000 to 2009. Then from 2010 to 2013, Bauer was the president and chief operating officer of the Calgary Stampeders.
