
The Philadelphia Flyers signed left winger Michael Bunting of Scarborough, Ontario. The terms of the contract are one year and worth $1.2 million according to Rogers Sportsnet on Tuesday.
The Flyers are the seventh National Hockey League franchise Bunting has played for. He was previously with the Arizona Coyotes for two seasons (2018 to 2019 and 2020 to 2021), two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs (2021 to 2023), one season with the Carolina Hurricanes (2023 to 2024), two seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2023 to 2025), two seasons with the Nashville Predators (2025 to 2026), and one season with the Dallas Stars (2026).
Last season with the Predators and Stars, Bunting had 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points in 74 games. He was a -24 with 20 penalty minutes, 10 power-play points, one game-winning goal, 126 shots on goal, 10 faceoff wins, 25 blocked shots, 45 hits, 12 takeaways, and 57 giveaways.
Bunting’s game-winning goal came on January 16, in a 7-3 Predators win over the Colorado Avalanche. Bunting scored from Steven Stamkos of Markham, Ontario with one minute and 56 seconds left in the second period. At the time, the Predators went up by a score of 4-2.
It has been a tough start to the season for the Flyers. They have not won any of their first four games. In the Flyers opener, they lost 7-0 to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
