Evander Kane of Vancouver, British Columbia recorded his second career hat trick on Wednesday. Kane scored three goals in a 5-2 San Jose Sharks win over the Carolina Hurricanes at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
All three of Kane’s goals came in the first period. Kane opened the scoring at 8:36 from Tomas Hertl and Erik Karlsson. After the Hurricanes tied the game at one, Kane scored two power play goals for the Sharks in a span of two minutes and 24 seconds. At 17:19, Kane broke a 1-1 tie on a goal from Brent Burns of Barrie, Ontario and Kevin Labanc. Then, Kane put the Sharks up 3-1 on a power play goal with 17 seconds left in the first period from Burns and Hertl.
Barclay Goodrow of Toronto, Ontario scored the only goal in the second period to put the Sharks up 4-1. After the Hurricanes pulled within two goals in the third period, Hertl scored from Kane and Logan Couture of Guelph, Ontario with 53 seconds left into an empty net.
Kane now has four goals and two assists for six points in four games. His first career hat trick was actually a four goal game in a 7-4 Sharks win over the Calgary Flames on March 16, 2018.
