Winnipeg Jets goaltender Eric Comrie of Edmonton, Alberta recorded his second career National Hockey League career shutout on Saturday. He made 26 saves as the Buffalo Sabres beat the New York Islanders 2-0 at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

Comrie made 26 saves overall. He had seven saves in the first period, 11 saves in the second period, and eight saves in the third period. Bo Horvat of London, Ontario led the Islanders with five shots on goal.

Jeff Skinner of Toronto, Ontario scored one of two goals for the Sabres. The other Sabres goal scorer was Kyle Okposo. Dylan Cozens of Whitehorse, Yukon meanwhile had a primary assist on the Skinner goal.

Comrie’s other NHL shutout came last season with the Winnipeg Jets. He made 35 saves in a 4-0 Jets win over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Canada Life Centre in the Manitoba capital city.

In 2022-23, Comrie has a record of nine wins and nine regulation losses. He has a goals against average of 3.72 and a save percentage of .882.

Eric Comrie meanwhile accomplished something on Saturday that has not been accomplished since 1964. That was recording a shutout the game after giving up 10 goals in a game. The last goalie to accomplish the fat was Don Simmons of Port Colborne, Ontario.

With the win, the Sabres improved to a record of 35 wins, 31 regulation losses, and six losses in extra time. They have 76 points and are six points back of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
