Eighteen Canadians selected in first round of 2024 NHL Draft

The first round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft took place on Friday night from Las Vegas, Nevada. Here are the 18 Canadians selected in the first round.

1) Macklin Celebrini–The centre from Vancouver, British Columbia was selected first overall by the San Jose Sharks. Last season he had 32 goals and 32 assists for 64 points with Boston University.

2) Beckett Sennecke–The right winger from Toronto, Ontario was selected third overall by the Anaheim Ducks. Last season he had 27 goals and 41 assists for 68 points in 63 games with the Oshawa Generals.

3) Cayden Lindstrom–The centre from Chetwynd, British Columbia was selected fourth overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Last season he had 27 goals and 19 assists for 46 points with the Medicine Hat Tigers.

4) Tij Iginla–The winger from Lake Country, British Columbia was selected sixth overall by the Utah Hockey Club. Last season he had 47 goals and 37 assists for 84 points with the Kelowna Rockets.

5) Carter Yakemchuk–The defenseman from Calgary, Alberta was selected seventh overall by the Ottawa Senators. Last season he had 30 goals and 41 assists for 71 points with the Calgary Hitmen.

6) Berkly Catton–The centre from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was selected eighth overall by the Seattle Kraken. Last season he had 54 goals and 62 assists for 116 points with the Spokane Chiefs.

7) Zayne Parekh–The defenseman from Nobleton, Ontario was selected ninth overall by the Calgary Flames. Last season he had 33 goals and 63 assists for 96 points with the Saginaw Spirit.

8) Sam Dickinson–The defenseman from Toronto was selected 11th overall by the Sharks. Last season he had 18 goals and 52 assists for 70 points with the London Knights.

9) Jett Luchanko–The centre from London, Ontario was selected 13th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers. Last season he had 20 goals and 54 assists for 74 points with the Guelph Storm.

10) Terik Parascak–The right winger from Lethbridge, Alberta was selected 17th overall by the Washington Capitals. Last season he had 43 goals and 62 assists for 105 points with the Prince George Cougars.

11) Sacha Boisvert–The centre from Trois Rivieres, Quebec was selected 18th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks. Last season he had 36 goals and 32 assists for 68 points with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League.

12) Michael Hage–The centre from Mississauga, Ontario was selected 21st overall by the Montreal Canadiens. Last season he had 33 goals and 42 assists for 75 points with the Chicago Steel of the USHL.

13) Cole Beaudoin–The centre from Kanata, Ontario was selected 24th overall by the Utah Hockey Club. Last season he had 28 goals and 34 assists for 62 points with the Barrie Colts.

14) Dean Letourneau–The centre from Braeside, Ontario was selected 25th overall by the Boston Bruins. Last season he played for St. Andrew’s College Saints in Aurora, Ontario and Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL.

15) Liam Greentree–The right winger from Oshawa, Ontario was selected 26th overall by the Los Angeles Kings. Last season he had 36 goals and 54 assists for 90 points with the Windsor Spitfires.

16) Marek Vanacker–The left winger from Delhi, Ontario was selected 27th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks. Last season he had 36 goals and 46 assists for 82 points with the Brantford Bulldogs.

17) Ben Danford–The defenceman from Madoc, Ontario was selected 31st overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Last season he had one goal and 32 assists for 33 points with the Generals.

18) Sam O’Reilly–The right winger from Toronto was selected 32nd overall by the Edmonton Oilers. Last season he had 20 goals and 36 assists for 56 points with the Knights.
