Darcy Kuemper of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recorded his 18th career shutout on Saturday as the Arizona Coyotes defeated the Calgary Flames 3-0 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Kuemper made 37 saves in the win and became the sixth National Hockey League goaltender this season to notch two shutouts. The only other Canadian goaltender to have two shutouts this season is Buffalo Sabres goaltender Carter Hutton of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Kuemper made 11 saves in the first period, 12 saves in the second period and 14 saves in the third period. Rasmus Andersson led the Flames with six shots on goal.

Offensively, the Coyotes were led by left winger Lawson Crouse of Mount Brydges, Ontario. Crouse was the only Coyotes player with a multi-point game as he had one goal and one assist for two points.

With the win, Kuemper improved to a record of nine wins and five regulation losses. He has a NHL leading goals against average of 1.85 (which leads the NHL) and a save percentage of .937. There is no doubt that Kuemper is becoming one of the best goaltenders in the entire NHL and is a Vezina Trophy candidate.

The Coyotes are in second place in the Pacific Division. With a record of 12 wins, seven regulation losses and two losses in extra time for 26 points, they are three points back of the division leading Edmonton Oilers.
