Canadians Corey Conners of Listowel, Ontario and Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba are representing the International Team at the 2026 Presidents Cup in Chicago, Illinois. On Friday at the Medinah Country Club, Conners and Taylor teamed up together in foursome competition and delivered a massive upset as they beat Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns of the United States 1 up. The International Team currently leads the United States 7-3.
Scheffler is the number one ranked golfer in the world with 744.94888 points. He has 358.88954 more points than Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, who is in second place with 386.05934 points. Scheffler is also a four-time major champion (2022 and 2024 Masters, 2025 PGA Championship and 2025 British Open), and has won three times on the PGA Tour in 2026 (American Express Championship, FedEx St. Jude Championship, and Tour Championship). Burns is eighth in the world, Conners is 55th in the world, and Taylor is 85th in the world.
On Friday, Conners and Taylor won the third, fifth, sixth, and 12th holes. Conners and Taylor did a great job of protecting their lead after winning the 12th hole. On the 18th hole, Taylor had an excellent approach shot, that preserved the much needed point for the international team.
This was the very first point for Taylor in his Presidents Cup career. This was Conners’s third win at the Presidents Cup. Two years ago in Montreal, he teamed up with Canadian Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton, Ontario in foursome action. They defeated the American duo of Wyndham Clark and Tony Finau 6&5. Then in singles action in Montreal, Conners beat Finau 5&3.
