Edmonton Oilers captain and centre Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario was named the National Hockey League First Star of the Week for the week from November 11 to 17, 2024. In three games, McDavid had three goals and five assists for eight points.
McDavid began the week with one goal and three assists for four points in a 4-3 Oilers overtime win over the New York Islanders on November 12. That was followed by a multi-point game on November 14 where he had one goal and one assist for two points in a 3-2 Oilers overtime win over the Nashville Predators, and another two point game (on goal and one assist) in a 4-3 Oilers loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the Oilers win over the Predators, McDavid became the fourth youngest player ever to record 1000 points in a career, and the player to record 1000 points in the fourth fewest number of games.
Also during the week, McDavid was a -1 with two penalty minutes, two power-play points, 20 shots on goal, five hits, and 17 faceoff wins. With the five points, the Oilers are now one game above the .500 mark for the season. They have a record of nine wins, eight regulation losses and two losses in extra time for 20 points.
