Team Canada won three figure skating medals from Skate America in Boston, Massachusetts this past weekend. In the pairs event on Saturday, Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps of Vaudereuil-Dorion, Quebec won the silver medal, and Kelly Ann Laurin of Saint-Jerome, Quebec and Loucas Ethier of Saint-Alphonse-de-Granby, Quebec won the bronze medal. Then on Sunday, Marie-Jade Lauriault of Laval, Quebec, and Romain Le Gac of Montreal, Quebec won the bronze medal in the ice dance.
In the pairs, Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps had 197.89 points in finishing second. Laurin and Ethier won the bronze medal with 156.94 points. Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier of the United States won the gold medal with 201.39 points. Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps reached the podium by 52.57 points and Laurin and Ethier reached the podium by 11.62 points over Maria Mokhova and Ivan Mokhov of the United States, who finished in fourth place with a score of 145.32 points.
In the ice dance, Lauriault and Le Gac had 178.3 points. They reached the podium by 7.41 points over Loicia Demougeot and Theo Le Mercer of France, who finished in fourth place with 170.89 points. Madison Chock and Evan Bates of the United States won the gold medal with 202.8 points. Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker of the United States won the silver medal with 202.07 points.
These were the first medals for Stellato-Dudek, Deschamps, Laurin, Ethier, Lauriault and Le Gac in a Grand Prix figure skating event. The Skate America medals will give these six Canadian figure skaters confidence as they prepare for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
