Team Canada has won the bronze medal in men’s curling at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. On Friday, the Canadian team skipped by Brad Gushue of St. John’s, Newfoundland defeated the United States 8-5.

In the bronze medal game, the turning point seemed to be in the second half of the game after Gushue asked officials for the ice to be cleaned. He stated that the ice was “dirty.” Thereafter, Canada was in complete control as they scored the final four points of the game.

Canada was forced to play for bronze after losing 5-3 to Sweden in the semifinal. Sweden will be playing Great Britain for gold in men’s curling (Friday at 11 p.m. MT). This will be a rematch of the gold medal game at the 2021 World Men’s Curling Championship in Calgary, which Sweden won 10-5.

Edin will be looking for redemption as he lost the gold medal game in men’s curling at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang to Shuster by a score of 10-7. Shuster had five points in the eighth end in the gold medal game four years ago. At the time, the game was tied at five and was extremely close before the United States shockingly blew the game wide open in one of the most famous ends in Olympic history.

But one must realize, the Canadian men’s curling team, led by Gushue, actually put a six-ender together in the sixth end in winning gold at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin. This led to Canada’s gold medal in men’s curling as Canada trounced Finland 10-4. Prior to Friday, this was Gushue’s only previous Olympic medal. Now he has two Olympic medals.

At the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, Gushue teamed up with third Mark Nichols, second Brett Gallant, and lead Geoff Walker.
