Canada reaches the finals of the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship

Team Canada is in the final of the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia. On Wednesday, in the semifinals, Canada trounced the United States 6-2 in the second of two semifinals.

We all know what a wonderful tournament it has been for NHL projected number one pick Connor Bedard of North Vancouver, British Columbia. On Wednesday, the Regina Pats center had a multi-point game with one goal and one assist for two points. However, in the semifinals, it was Joshua Roy’s turn to lead Canada in scoring. The native of Saint-Georges-De-Bea, Quebec, who was the fifth round pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, had two goals and two assists for four points. Roy is a right winger with the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Three other Canadian players scored a goal and had a multi-point game as they had one goal and one assist for two points. They were Ontario Reign defenseman Brandt Clarke of Nepean, Ontario, University of Michigan forward Adam Fantilli of Nobleton, Ontario, and Kamloops Blazers center Logan Stankoven of Kamloops, British Columbia.

Canada will play Czechia in the final on Thursday. In the other semifinal, Czechia beat Sweden 2-1. In pool action, Czechia beat Canada 5-2 on Boxing Day.
