Team Canada is in the final of the 2025 Women’s World Curling Championship in Uijeongbu, South Korea on Sunday. In the championship final, Canada will play Switzerland.
The Canadians won two qualification games on Saturday as they defeated Scotland 10-4 and South Korea 6-5. The wins were significant because Canada was beaten by Scotland and South Korea in the round robin. Scotland beat Canada 8-7 on March 15 and South Korea beat Canada 11-7 on March 19.
In Canada’s win over Scotland, the Canadians got off to a fantastic start. They put the pressure on Scotland early and outscored Scotland 7-1 after four ends. The Canadian second Emma Miskew of Ottawa, Ontario and the Canadian third Tracy Fleury of Sudbury, Ontario both curled 94%.
In Canada’s win over South Korea, a key shot came in the ninth end when Korean third Min-ji Kim was unable to remove a Canadian stone. This shot set up a Canadian deuce and the 5-4 lead. Then in the 10th end, Canadian skip Rachel Homan of Ottawa made a spectacular double takeout to force a South Korean single point. In the extra end, Canada did not need to throw their final shot. South Korean skip Eun-ji Gim was unable to count for a point with her final shot and Canada picked up one point with the hammer.
