Canada has men’s Olympic 4×100 metre relay medal upgraded to silver

Team Canada is having their men’s 4×100 metre relay from the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 upgraded from bronze to silver. This is because British sprinter C.J. Ujah has teated positive for a banned substance according to the Associated Press.  The positive test was confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Friday. Great Britain initially won a silver medal with a time of 37.51 seconds.

The Canadian team comprised of Aaron Brown of Toronto, Ontario, Jerome Blake of Burnaby, British Columbia, Andre De Grasse of Scarborough, Ontario, and Brendon Rodney of Etobicoke, Ontario posted a time of 37.70 seconds. Italy remains the gold medalists after posting a time of 37.50 seconds. China meanwhile have now won a bronze medal after having their position upgraded from fourth to third. China posted a time of 37.79 seconds. Team Canada earned a medal by 0.14 seconds over Jamaica, which had a fourth place time of 37.84 seconds.

This was the third medal for De Grasse at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. He also won a gold medal in the men’s 200 metres and a bronze in the men’s 100 metres.

Canada remained 11th in the overall medal standings from the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. They won seven gold medals, seven silver medals, and 10 bronze medals for 24 medals.
