Team Canada is playoff bound at the 2022 World Men’s Curling Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. On Thursday, Canada trounced South Korea 10-2 in the 17th round robin session, to improve to a record of eight wins and two losses.

It was a very impressive game of curling for the Canadian squad skipped by Brad Gushue of St. John’s, Newfoundland who won the gold medal for Canada at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin. Team Canada got off to a fantastic start as they scored three points in the first end, and then stole three points in the second end when Korean skip Soo-Hyuk Kim came up light with his final stone. Canada then added three more points in the fifth end.

Canada has been .500 over the last two days. In addition to their win over South Korea, they beat Finland 8-3 on Wednesday. Their losses however came to the United States and Sweden.

The goal for the Gushue team at this time will be to get one of the top two spots in the round robin. Sweden is in second with a record of eight wins and three losses, and the United States are in a four-way tie for third place with Italy, Scotland, and Switzerland. Canada’s Friday opponents will be Scotland and Denmark. Two wins and Canada is guaranteed first place.
