Team Canada has improved to a record of three wins and two losses in the men’s curling tournament at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. The Canadian team skipped by Brad Gushue of St. John’s, Newfoundland clobbered the United States 10-5 on Saturday. The American team was skipped by John Shuster, who won the gold medal in men’s curling at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

It was a sensational start for Team Canada, who got off to a fast 5-0 lead after two ends. Shuster missed both of his shots in the second end, and simply could not regroup. Team Canada then got a key steal in the seventh end to take a 7-1 lead.

In the Olympic men’s curling standings, Canada is currently in a fourth place tie with the Russian Olympic Committee. Canada will play the Russians on Tuesday at 5 a.m. MT. Sweden is in first place at five wins and zero losses, while Switzerland and Great Britain are tied for second place at three wins and one loss. Before Canada plays the Russian Olympic Committee, they have games against Italy on Sunday at 11 p.m. MT, and China on Monday at 6 p.m. MT. The Canadian women’s curling team meanwhile are 1-3 after an 8-4 loss to Switzerland on Sunday.
