Cam Talbot collects his 29th NHL shutout

Cam Talbot of Caledonia, Ontario recorded his 29th career National Hockey League shutout on Saturday. He accomplished the feat in a 5-0 Los Angeles Kings win over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Talbot made 13 saves in the first period, eight saves in the second period, and three saves in the third period. Cam Atkinson led the Flyers with five shots on goal.

From an offensive perspective, Quinton Byfield of Newmarket, Ontario led the Kings with three points, as he had three assists. The three points tied a career-high. Byfield also had two goals and one assist in a 6-1 Kings win over the Nashville Predators on March 22, 2022.

In 2023-24, Talbot has a record of six wins, two regulation losses, and one loss in extra time. He has a goals against average of 2.14, and a save percentage of .923.

This was Talbot’s first NHL shutout with the Kings. He previously had 12 shutouts with the Edmonton Oilers, eight shutouts with the New York Rangers, five shutouts with the Minnesota Wild, two shutouts with the Calgary Flames, and one shutout with the Ottawa Senators.

With the win, the Kings improved to a record of seven wins, two regulation losses and two losses in extra time for 16 points. They are in third place in the Pacific Division.
