Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario now has the record for most LPGA victories by a Canadian golfer. On Sunday, Henderson won a national record ninth LPGA tournament as she shot a four round score of -21 to beat Americans Lexi Thompson and Brittany Altomare, Australian Su Oh and Nasa Hataoka of Japan by a stroke at the Meijer LPGA Classic from Grand Rapids, Michigan.

With the win, Henderson passes Sandra Post of Oakville, Ontario, who has eight victories. On the PGA Tour, Mike Weir of Sarnia, Ontario and George Knudson of Winnipeg, Manitoba also had eight victories.

In the final round, Henderson shot a fourth round score of 70. In collecting a round of two under par, she collected birdies on the fourth, sixth and 13th holes and a bogey on the 16th hole.

Henderson’s round of 70 on Sunday was her worst round of the week. It was followed by back-to-back rounds of -8 (64) on Thursday and Friday and a round of -3 (69) on Saturday.

Heading into the third major of the season on Thursday in Minneapolis, Henderson will be looking for her second Women’s PGA Championship. She initially won the tournament in Seattle in 2016. Henderson is also now fifth in the Rolex World Golf Rankings with the victory. She is only behind Jin-Young Ko of South Korea, Thompson, Minjee Lee of Australia and Sung Hyun Park of South Korea.
