Brooke Henderson two strokes back at the 2023 Mizuho Americas Open

Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario is in fourth place at the 2023 Mizuho Americas Open in Jersey City, New Jersey. After 36 holes, she is at -5 and two strokes back of the leaders, Minjee Lee of Australia, and Cheyenne Knight of the United States.

Henderson had a score of three-under-par 69 in round one and two-under-par 70 in round two. In round one on Thursday, she had three birdies and zero bogeys. Henderson birdied the eighth, 13th and 17th holes. In round two on Friday, she had six birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey. She double bogeyed the first hole, birdied the third, fourth, fifth, ninth, 12th and 17th holes, and bogeyed the seventh and 13th holes.

Lydia Ko of New Zealand, the current world number three, is all alone in third place at -6. Henderson is in a four-way tie for fourth place with Rose Zhang of the United States, Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand, and Aditi Ashok of India. Then there is a three-way tie for ninth place at -4. There you can find American Angel Yin, England’s Bronte Law, and South Korea’s Eun-Hee Ji.

Of all the contenders, Henderson, Ko, Lee, and Ji are major champions. Henderson won the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship and 2022 Evian Championship. Ji won the 2009 United States Women’s Open. Ko won the 2015 Evian Championship and 2016 ANA Inspiration. Lee won the 2021 Evian Masters and 2022 United States Women’s Open.
